Belo Horizonte is such a young city compared to Sao Paulo and Rio. It’s only going to turn 113 this December. But it strives to catch up with those two, looking to be fashionable and cosmopolitan. So, there are more and more new stores, bars, restaurants and clubs trying to offer international variety in a “world-class” atmosphere - complete with the chic interiors and subleties of refinement. But, can you be a punk other than at heart?
Then, you ask me, “How about hash browns?” Well, far off Belo’s beaten path districts, in the Pompéia neighborhood, you will find the Barracão Butiquim, where you can listen to live music of the most unexpected kind, drink from nostalgic Lagoinha glasses and eat delicious rosties – resembling hash brown casseroles - in a backyard-like patio dotted by 'cosmopolitan souls'.
